   WHO ARE WE

I grew up in a small city named Kulmbach in Germany. After my “Abitur” I moved to Bayreuth and absolved a social year in the child and youth psychiatry. Working in the social sector was my vision but in a more creative way so I chose for my studies Creative Therapies in the Netherlands in Leeuwarden. An exciting step began and in the end Fryslan became a second home with lots of good memories, interesting and lovely people. I was allowed to immerse in the Frisian culture, their way of life and thinking. “Alles komt goed” is a phrase I associate with the Dutch mentality and I absorbed it deep in my heart. During my studies I lived one year in Catania in Sicily working at the oncology. Not only my work but also the Italian way of life imprinted me. I love the delicious Sicilian food fresh from the market and the diversified landscape and the Italian mentality! ” Chi mangia solo crepa solo, chi mangia in compagnia, vive in allegria”. During my last year of my studies I went to India for my minor Humanitary Education for some months. Living a simple way of life with open minded Indian people gave me a small insight in their culture, their rules and way of living. “The quest for truth cannot be prosecuted in a cave. Silence makes no sense when it is necessary to speak”. (Mahatma Ghandi)

After my graduation in 2012 I started an education in outdoor education in Germany. “erlebnistage” offered me a lot of freedom to develop me personally and professionally by working with various kind of groups. I became rope course trainer and had a great and exciting time there, but Leeuwarden and overall David were deep in my heart so I went back to Fryslan. Another period in my life started… the bus was bought and also our vision grew. I started to work at the market to sell biological vegetables and fruits and also medical herbs and tea. Further I worked at an outdoor store. I combined my hobbies the outdoor sports and healthy food. Living together with David in a classroom in an old school offered a lot of space and inspiration and gave an immense feeling of freedom. Opening an underground restaurant was one of our projects as well as pimping our VW Bus. I love to have an open door so that everybody can feel free, home and welcome!

The first three years of my life I grew up in Berlin. We moved to Belgium because my dad got a job in Brussel. We, my sisters and my parents spent 9 years there. My French was better than my German and all of us felt home in the Wallonia. The job ends an before going back to Germany we spent a year in a city next to Madrid. A splendid time! We enjoyed the Spanish mentality as much as the culture and the food. Then we went back to Germany to life on an old farm in the North of the country. After finishing school I worked on an organic farm with handicapped people. Because of  that work I decided to became social worker, the time was ripe for a new country: The Netherlands! I studied in part time so I already worked as social worker in a great company; I loved working in families, doing my best to bring them in their own balance and power. So I lived in Leeuwarden, a Frisian city in the north of the Netherlands. Sounds boring but it wasn’t: nice people, good parties, I worked next to my other job on two markets selling organic vegetables and fruit, lived in an old classroom where I could build up a boulder-hall, we created an underground restaurant…  A lot of things why it was hard to leave Leeuwarden.

Now it feels perfect to travel around with Beate, doing stuff I love to like climbing, cycling, living outside with adventure and working with my hands to earn money on the way!
